Ron is a progressive artist working in oil and acrylic, and pushes the boundaries based on sound art principles. He abstracts subjects to highlight shapes and forms found in the natural and manmade environment. He has an eye for composition, and colour which he pushes around the canvas confidently encouraging it to merge with form. Like masterly built constructions his compositions are architecturally strong. His palette is exciting and energizing as it explores a paradise of hues
Ron Reynolds is a stayer in the often transitory world of art and artists having always maintained the practice of consistently exhibiting. From 1974 to 2004 he exhibited regularly in Eltham, so there is a great sense of ‘returning’ that we can view Reynolds current exhibition ‘Retour à Eltham’. Despite noting a dramatic shift in his work, patrons will nevertheless recognise a steady traceable stream of development of Reynolds’ constant exploration of the boundaries between abstraction and representation. Strong inspiration comes from his regular French and Italian travels but he has also continued to develop his iconic Victorian landscapes, painted expressively and with the characteristic Reynolds’ vibrant palette. This exhibition of landscapes and still life shows new work as well as paintings from recent years.
