ASV Exhibition Opening and Awards
Saturday the 9th of October saw a very successful exhibition opening for the Association of Sculptors of Victoria. There was over 300 people in attendence, all with wine glass in hand, perusing the 109 sculptures in the exhibition and spilling out into the sculpture garden to listen to the jazz band.
The exhibition was officially opened by the renowned sculptor Pamela Irving.
The Andor Meszaros Prize, an award category for sculptors with less than 10 years of experience, was this year awarded to Andrew Bryant for his corten steel and stainless steele sculpture, Pyramid of Heavy Thoughts.
The second prize for the Andor Meszaros Prize went to Winged, by Siouxsan Major.
Honourable mentions for the Andor Meszaros Prize went to Stoned by Dominique Pouzet and Incarnation by Van Phu Le.
The Margaret Gunnerson William Hoggan Thomas Memorial Award is decided by the vote of financial exhibitng members and awarded sculptors with over 10 years exhibition experience. The 2010 prize was awarded to Valda Cuming for Forest I.
Second prize in The Margaret Gunnerson William Hoggan Thomas Memorial Award was awarded to Michael Meszaros for Nationalism.
The Dalchem Pty Ltd Prize for was awarded to The Note by Zoe Ellenberg.
The exhibition is open until the 31st of October.
Exhibitions closing this weekend!
This is the final weekend of Anthony Williams’s first solo exhibition. Deborah Halpern’s exhibition of Nepali artworks and homewares raing money for Maiti Nepal also draws to a close this Sunday (October 3rd). Make sure to swing by before doors close at 4:30pm on Sunday.

The Association of Sculptors of Victoria Annual Exhibition and Awards 2010 begins on Wednesday 6th of October.
The exhibition will be officially opened on by artist Pamela Irving on Saturday 9th of October between 2:00pm and 4:00pm. The exhibition runs until October 31st.
